What Is The Importance Of Chassis Reinforcement?
There are many ways to enjoy your UTV like; trail riding, mud bogging, snow days, dune carving, and many others. All of these forms of enjoyment can come with a cost though. Your suspension is put through a decent amount of stress and abuse when going out to ride, especially if you’re the type to hit a few jumps.
When evaluating the suspension movement under load, it is never 100% rigid. While some suspension components are meant to move, sometimes they move in the wrong ways and can damage your machine over time. Under certain loads, the chassis will flex where the suspension is mounted to. This typically can be fixed with specific products to stiffen the chassis.
What Type Of Chassis Braces Are Available
The most common chassis reinforcement that is available is radius rod braces. Stiffening up the rear will significantly improve handling as there is added rigidity to the radius rod mounting location. This is the most common form of suspension and chassis bracing as it is easy to replace and typically offers additional utility through the form of a D-ring or a tow hitch receiver.

Agency Power offers the bulkhead support links which are intended to go behind the radius rods. Placing them behind the radius rods will prevent the rods from moving back and forth. Flexing at the bulkhead can cause the alignment to change in the middle of a corner. This can result in poor tire wear and even worse handling.

At the front of the machine, there are many different options including; bulkhead replacements, shock tower gussets, reinforcement bumpers, and even fully fabricated tube replacements. There are many other ways to provide additional reinforcement, but these are the most popular options that have been proven to work.
Another popular option for adding rigidity to the front of the machine is shock tower braces. Most commonly offered in billet aluminum, upgrading your shock tower brace will help eliminate a lot of the slop in the suspension up front. Owners experience tighter turn-in, better steering feel, and all-around better handling.
