Can-Am X3 Dump Cat Pipe Installation
You just received your new Agency Power race pipe with the switch-activated dump section and need to install it :). Installing the actual pipe is pretty simple as this is a direct replacement for the OEM catalytic converter. It retains the factory springs to connect to the muffler, the factory band clamp to the turbo and has a bung for the factory O2 sensor.
To start, let’s look at the part you received. You will have a complete pipe kit, a switch kit, and a valve actuator attached to the exhaust.
The switch is a plug-and-play system. It is designed to go in a blank spot above the start-stop button and plug into an existing 12v power source behind the dash. See Below
Locate the white/black connector behind the dash. Remove the white cap and connect the plug & play harness to the plug. See below.
Here’s the connector shown behind the center of the x3’s dash.
Connector shown with the white cap/cover removed.
Crimp the wires together from the front section of the harness to the rear portion. The purple lead will get crimped to the red wire and black crimps to black.
The next part requires running the loom towards the back of the vehicle. This will get connected to the valve actuator that is attached to the exhaust already. The center console is easily removed following the below steps. We recommend removing both the front and rear driver-side seats to make routing the wires much easier.
Lastly, connect the harness to the valve actuator on the exhaust and tidy up excess wiring, then your installation is complete!
Here is how the installation looks completed.
Will my VR TUNE adjust for any changes?
Yes it will!

Installing a vivid blow off valve with the cat delete and dump valve can you send me a vacuum diagram with both these together do I just put a tee at the intake plenum.i can’t read the wiring diagram does it make a difference between the black wire and purple at solenoid
Gary,
Correct if you have the Valvetronic dump pipe already installed you will just need to use a “T” fitting to tap into the line coming from the intake manifold. The orientation does not make a difference on the solenoid. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you
I’ve been using this and like it a lot. Bit last ride the cut out quit working. It will work if I cover the open line on the relay I believe you call it vacuum release port. Can you tell me why?
Shoot an email over to sales@agencypower.com and our sales team can help you get this solved.
Do I need a tuner for the agency power cat delete pipe with dump valve?
I would highly recommend our upgraded tune – https://www.agency-power.com/?s=can-am+x3&post_type=product&v=7516fd43adaa
Thank you, which tune will I want. 2018 can am maverick X3 xrs. Stock with agency power cat delete down pipe with dump valve, 32″ dirt tires, agency power boost hose with AP bov.
I just purchased this and I currently have a blow off valve with charge tube do I need to remove that in order for this to work?
No this will work with your charge pipe and BOV. It will just need to “T” into the vacuum line coming off the manifold boost reference port.
When did you stop using Magnaflow for the muffler? And who is making them now?
Mid last year we went to our full production muffler which is our own design. The exhaust still carries our Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Where on the pipe should we install a second bung for wide band installation?
We recommend after the turbo right before the bend.
You used to have the magnaflow muffler with the awesome tip that had a cut out. I really like that look and not the side dump option. I prefer the clean, stealth look. So this is a 2 part question.
Is the awesome tip/muffler combo still available?
Is this side dump better performance wise over that combo?
This exhaust is still available, see here https://www.agencypower.com/agency-power-valvetronic-exhaust-system-canam-maverick-p-151875096.html
I have a stock x3. I order the blow off valve and the dump cat pipe . will it hurt anything to run it for awhile until I order the programmer? I don’t see how it would. any advice would be appreciate it. Thanks
It will not hurt the machine, but it will be recommended to get the tune as soon as you can for efficiency.
the valve is closing with full throttle, I’ve check all connections but still same issue any idea whats wrong?
Go ahead and shoot sales@agency-power.com an email with some images of the solenoid and check valve and we will be able to help you out.
where do you mount the vaccum valve?
The vacuum hose does not need to mount to anything specifically, but if you would like to secure it to the chassis away from anything moving, a ziptie will do the trick!
Does this dump pipe system work with 900 Ho no turbo 2018 x3 model?
This is for the turbocharged models only. Sorry about that.
My charge tube has a boost reference port on it will it work there instead of connecting it to the manifold?
Hi Kale,
The line will need to be connected to the manifold. The vacuum source from the manifold is used to open the value. On a charge pipe, no vacuum will be seen and the valve will not operate like it is designed. If you have any other questions, please give our team a call at (480)921-7422
I am having a problem with my cutout closing at higher rpm. Any idea what may be causing this?
Hi Nathan,
I’m sorry to hear about the issue. It sounds like the check valve may be the cause of the problem. Try removing the valve and blowing air through both sides, air should be able to travel only one direction. If air travels both directions, you will need a new check valve. Please give our team a call or email if we can help with any further troubleshooting. (480)921-7422 or sales@agency-power.com
Hello
I have a 2020 model Can-am Maverick X3.
Your Product Agency Power Valvetronic Exhaust System Can-Am Maverick X3 | I want to buy the X3 Max 17-20.
I am very impressed with your product and would like to purchase it.
Is international delivery possible to South Korea?
Hi Jae,
Thank you for the interest. We ship internationally. Please contact our sales team directly at sales@agency-power.com or 480-921-7422. Thank you!
How long does this install take ???
The cat pipe should only take around 3 hours to install.
I just received your full Valvetronic exhaust for my ’21 Can-Am Maverick X3 XRC Turbo RR and cannot find that 12 VDC plug under the dash. Are you sure the ’21’s have this plug? I have the whole dash apart and cannot find this plug.
The plug should run along with the existing harness under the dash. The best way to find it is to trace each harness back. It will have a white cap as shown in the pictures. It is possible that this lead is already being used by existing accessories. If that is the case, you can purchase an adapter harness that will allow you to run two accessories off the single plug.
on the exhaust for the 2021 can am x3, which of the air plugs goes where. Both air ports out of the cylenoid are parallel to each other, as opposed to being an L in your diagram. Thanks!
Please shoot me an email at ajc@vividracing.com with photos so I can take a look at the solenoid.
