BMW M3 E46 Bolt-in Harness Bar Installation
Install overview of the Agency Power Bolt-In Harness Bar for the BMW E46 M3.
Step 1: Behind both the driver and passenger seat, locate the seat belt slide/mount. Remove the plastic cap to expose the Torx bolt. Using a T50 torx bit remove the bolt and metal retaining clip. Do this for both sides of the vehicle. Use images for reference.
Step 2: For the next part you can do this in a number of different ways. If you have a friend to assist you can insert the harness bar into the vehicle partially assembled (As shown in the photos). If you do not have someone to assist you, start with the each bottom leg and assemble a section at a time.
Once the harness bar has been inserted into the vehicle line up the harness bar legs to the seat belt slide/mount and attach using the provided longer extended hardware. Do this for both sides. Do not tighten the hardware just yet! Keep everything loose/snug until the harness bar has been fully assembled in the vehicle.
Step 3: Locate the seat anchors at the center of the back seat. Using the supplied 2-piece harness bar clip mount, insert the hook over the seat anchor and place the other piece over to sandwich the two together. While holding these locked together, slide the harness bar over and insert hardware. Use images for reference.
Step 4: You can now attach the upper portion of the harness bar. To make this step easier you can remove the bolts on the side of the harness bar to give you more movement adjustment for attaching the bars together. Once everything is fitted in place properly, tighten hardware and enjoy your new Agency Power Bolt-in Harness Bar!
Can you make this harness bar work on a e46 sedan?
No unfortunately the harness bar would need to be completely redesigned to accommodate the rear of the e46 sedan.
Does this harness bar fit the convertible non M cars?
It will not work on the convertible. The rear mounting locations are different between the Coupe and Convertible.
Can you make one for F80 M3 ?
We might consider the F80 next.
Would this fit an e36 convertible?
How’s it going? It will fit convertible models! Unfortunately, Agency Power no longer manufactures this harness bar but our sister company does. Check it out here – https://www.vividracing.com/performance-boltin-harness-bar-bmw-e46-p-151833564.html
Would this fit a 03 vert m3?
It will fit the vert!
Would this fit a 330ci model?
I can’t confirm that it is a direct bolt on fit since the back seats are fairly different on a 330ci compared to an M3. Some modification might be necessary to fit properly.
Any chance F33 can install? Thanks.
This harness bar only fits the E46 chassis.
