Agency Power Bolt-In Harness Bar Installed in BMW F87 M2
A Harness Bar for the BMW 2-Series Coupe is the perfect addition to any track, autocross, or even show vehicle. The BMW F22 such as the M2, M235I, M240I, and 228I are extremely popular vehicles for the track. The harness bar’s purpose is to allow the use of racing harnesses during competitive events to further secure the driver and/or passenger in their seats. Harnesses must be installed in such a fashion where the belts are at an angle required by sanctioning bodies such as NASA or SCCA to keep the driver safe and secure. The angle which is recommended for properly installing harnesses is parallel to the seated persons shoulders and not further down than -20 degrees. With the installation of the Agency Power harness bar, drivers will be able to properly run a set of harnesses in their vehicle. In addition to providing support to keep you focused on steering wheel control, the mounting and positioning of the harness bar provides further structural integrity to the vehicle chassis. The Agency Power BMW 2-Series harness bar was designed for an easy installation that provides an OEM fit that does not require cutting. Constructed of 1018 steel with .120 wall thickness, the sections of tube are then precision welded and feature mandrel bends for extreme durability. Each harness bar features harness locators behind the driver and passenger seats to prevent the harnesses from sliding on the top tube. Integrated slip fit design like some of our other harness bar kits allows for it to be easily installed or removed. The rear bars feature a unique CNC machined hook design which secures the harness bar to the factory child safety latches. Finally, the symbolic Agency Power logo is centered in the top bar. Each harness bar can be finished in an assortment of powder coated finishes.

I have a BMW M2 Competition and want to put in some kind or decent harnesses for HPDEs (I am an Instructor and want to set a good example). I have a couple of questions about your harness bars.
How long would it take a “home mechanic” to install the bar the first time? Any special tools? How long should it take to install and remove after the first time? What kind of harness is recommended? (type, model, manufacturer). I used Scroth Quick Fit in my previous E46 and liked that arrangement.
Thanks
Thanks for the message Mike. The harness bar is the perfect add on for your HPDE events. Its a pretty easy installation. No cutting or removing seats required. You can see here https://www.agencypower.com/blog/agency-power-bolt-in-harness-bar-installed-in-bmw-f87-m2/. I would say it might take you 1-2 hours. Since it is bolting into the factory seat belt hardware, you should just need that one tool and then the some allens and sockets.
Because of the harness bar, you will want a harness you can wrap around the bar. But then for the lap belts you can use the clip in kind. The easiest way to do this is with some Schroth dog bones that mount where the seat belt bolts the stock lap connector. See here https://www.vividracing.com/schroth-racing-competition-b23a-dog-bone-end-fitting-kit-p-116825.html
As far as the harnesses go, I think Schroth is a good brand and perfect for the BMW. I would recommend a 5 point but for HPDE a 4 point is fine. Something like these would work https://www.vividracing.com/schroth-racing-harness-asm-flex-snap-black-p-86284.html
Thanks for the additional information. I’ll take a good look at those links when I can get to a better device.
Assuming that this looks good, what is the price/cost of your harness bar and do you sell direct or through retailers (if so, who??). I’m having problems finding it in your “store”. (The link in the set of photos gets a 404 (not found) screen.) Could you send me a copy of the install instructions to get a better view of what i’ll need to do?
Hey Mike,
You can buy this from us direct on our site or through our sister company who also sells the harnesses, Vivid Racing https://www.vividracing.com/agency-power-boltin-harness-bar-bmw-2series-f22-coupe-p-151807010.html
