BMW 550 Gets the Sleeper Treatment
One would think that the BMW 550I has plenty of power for a luxury sedan cruiser. 1 step below the M5, the 550 lacks just some small upgrades that can turn this V8 into a V10 killer. To start this customers project off, we did a ECU Flash with local tuner Dyno Comp. The ECU was programmed to match our power components which included AFE Stage 2 Cold Air Intake Type Cx and a custom valvetronic Agency Power exhaust. The 550 and M5 share near identical exhaust systems. So we took our super popular M5 valvetronic exhaust and utilized 1 side with some additional in-house fabrication to make it fit. At the click of a button, the exhaust goes from loud to quiet. With the power bits added, the speed of this 550I has definitely increased. So to make it stand out behind the stock wheels, we did a StopTech front and rear big brake kit. This is near the same brake kit that we run on our Project M5. The front is a 6piston caliper with 2piece 380mm rotors. The rear is a 4piston caliper featuring a 2piece 355mm rotor. These calipers were then done in a custom blue paint from StopTech.
